In a shocking event, pop icon Britney Spears was assaulted by a security guard working for Victor Wembanyama, the NBA’s number one draft pick. The incident has drawn widespread attention and sparked discussions about celebrity security and the measures taken to protect high-profile individuals.
According to reports, Spears was allegedly slapped in the face by one of Wembanyama’s security staff during an event in Las Vegas. The details of the incident remain somewhat unclear, but it appears that a physical altercation took place between Spears and the security guard.
On Wednesday night, Spears saw San Antonio Spurs’ power forward at Catch restaurant in the ARIA Hotel and filed a police report after the incident occurred. The French basketball player mentioned that there were many people present when it happened and spoke to reporters about it on Thursday.
“So people calling me obviously, there was one person, one person who was was calling me, but we talked before with the security, don’t stop because it’s going to make a crowd. So I couldn’t stop,” he said. “And that person grabbed me from behind. So I didn’t see, I didn’t see what happened, because I was walking straight … but that person grabbed me from behind. Not on my shoulder. She grabbed me from behind.”
“So I just know that the security push her away, I don’t know with how with how much force though,” he said.
In a post on Instagram, Spears referred to Wembanyamar’s claims as a “traumatic experience” and responded to them.
“I was not prepared for what happened to me last night,” she said. “I recognized an athlete in my hotel lobby as I was heading to dinner. I later went to a restaurant at a different hotel and saw him again. I decided to approach him and congratulate him on his success.”
“It was really loud, so I tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention. I am aware of the players statement where he mentions ‘I grabbed him from behind’ but I simply tapped him on the shoulder,” she continued. “His security then back handed me in the face without looking back, in front of a crowd. Nearly knocking me down and causing my glasses off my face.”

“Physical violence is happening too much in this world. Often behind closed doors,” she said. “I stand with all the victims and my heart goes out to all of you!!! I have yet to get a public apology from the player, his security or their organization. I hope they will.”
“I also don’t appreciate nor do I think this is a laughing matter. Watching the player smile and laugh was cruel and demoralizing with the situation that took place. I am 5’3 and he’s 7’4,” she added. “I cherish the tremendous amounts of love and support I am receiving at the moment. Thank you to the Las Vegas PD and the detectives for their support.”
The incident has raised questions about the conduct of security personnel protecting celebrities, particularly in crowded public spaces. While these professionals are tasked with ensuring the safety of their clients, they must also respect the rights and well-being of others. This balance can sometimes be challenging to maintain, particularly in high-stakes environments where tensions can run high.
As the investigation continues, many are hoping for a swift resolution to the incident. The episode serves as a stark reminder of the pressures and pitfalls of life in the spotlight, and the importance of ensuring that security protocols are not just effective, but also respectful of all involved. Amidst the controversy, Spears continues to receive an outpouring of support from fans worldwide, a testament to her enduring influence and the public’s growing awareness of the challenges she faces.
