In a shocking development, Matthew Inman, a Florida Democrat, and gay rights advocate, has been apprehended on charges related to child pornography. Inman, aged 39, allegedly sent illicit material to an undercover law enforcement officer, posing as the father of a young boy.
Matthew Inman’s online profiles, including his X account, which is archived, highlight his prominent role as the President of the Rainbow Democrats. This nonprofit organization is dedicated to enhancing relationships between individuals of diverse sexual orientations and the Democratic Party community.
Residing in Orlando, Inman also has a history of serving as the Treasurer for the Orange County Democratic Party. His social media presence paints the picture of a staunch “anti-Trump” and Kamala Harris supporter. Notably, he attended the 2024 Democratic National Convention and publicly declared his support for Harris as a delegate representing Congressional District 9.

The U.S. District Attorney’s office revealed in a statement that between August and October 2024, Inman was involved in acquiring and storing several disturbing videos of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). These videos, shockingly, depicted adults committing heinous acts against young children. Inman is said to have transmitted these materials to an undercover officer, who was pretending to be the father of a nine-year-old boy, and expressed his interest in sexually exploiting the child.
In a distressing series of events, when the FBI executed a search warrant at Inman’s residence, he attempted to obliterate incriminating evidence from his phone and slyly took refuge in his attic. He is now facing serious charges involving the transportation of child sexual abuse material, punishable by a mandatory minimum of five years and up to 20 years in federal prison.
The official statement reads: Orlando, Florida – United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg announces the arrest and filing of a criminal complaint against Matthew A. Inman (39, Orlando) for the transportation of child sex abuse material. If convicted, Inman faces a minimum of five years, up to 20 years, in federal prison.
The complaint states that between August and October 2024, Inman received and saved numerous videos of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) on his phone. These videos displayed adults sexually abusing young children. In October 2024, Inman traveled to Las Vegas and initiated online conversations with an undercover officer, posing as the father of a nine-year-old boy. During these exchanges, Inman indicated his desire to meet and sexually assault the supposed child and sent CSAM videos to the undercover officer.
The FBI obtained a warrant to search Inman’s electronic devices and home. During the search, Inman tried to erase the evidence on his phone and hide in his attic. It is essential to remember that a criminal complaint represents mere allegations that a defendant has broken federal criminal laws, and each defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
This investigation was carried out by the FBI and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Richard Varadan. This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative initiated in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. The goal is to address the rising epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse by coordinating federal, state, and local resources to apprehend and prosecute those who exploit children and to identify and rescue victims.
