ESPN Fires Reporter Who Was Caught on Video Cursing Fellow Journalist

ESPN announced the firing of national baseball reporter Marly Rivera after an obscene confrontation with another female sports journalist.

According to sources, Rivera used vulgar language, including the f-word and the c-word, during a heated argument with journalist Ivón Gaete while out on the field of Yankee Stadium before a game. This happened while Aaron Judge was right next to them signing autographs for fans, including children. Video footage of the confrontation emerged, which eventually led to Rivera’s dismissal from the network.

ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz confirmed Rivera’s firing in a statement saying, “She no longer works here.” ESPN hired Rivera in 2011, and she had been a prominent reporter covering MLB events in recent years.

The incident has caused quite a stir on social media platforms, with many calling out Rivera’s behavior as unprofessional and inappropriate. While some have expressed support for the journalist, others argue that there is no excuse for using such derogatory language in any context. From what I have gathered, most people actually hated her anyway.

After the incident, Rivera tried to apologize but this was apparently ignored by Gaete. “I fully accept responsibility for what I said, which I should not have,” Rivera told the NY Post.

“There were extenuating circumstances but that in no way is an excuse for my actions. I am a professional with a sterling reputation across baseball and I do believe that I am being singled out by a group of individuals with whom I have a long history of professional disagreements,” she continued.

People just need to learn to be kinder to one another in general. A little kindness goes a long way, while harsh words and hatred only fuel the fire of division.
