Josh Duggar, the former star of the TLC reality show “19 Kids and Counting”, has been hit with another blow as his prison sentence has recently been extended by almost two months due to a breach of prison regulations. The 35-year-old is currently being held in solitary confinement at a low-security federal prison in Texas following a discovery of an illicit cellphone in his possession. His original release date was set for August 12th, 2032, however this has been revised to October 2nd, 2032 according to the Bureau of Prisons website.
Duggar’s fall from grace began back in 2006 when reports emerged that he had molested four of his sisters and a babysitter. Despite the allegations, no charges were ever filed as the statute of limitations had expired by then. However, further revelations eventually lead to the cancellation of “19 Kids and Counting” in 2015.
The disgraced reality TV star was arrested again in April 2021 after investigators were able to tie him to child p—ography files which were downloaded in 2019 from a computer linked to him. After a six-day trial at the end of 2021, Duggar was found guilty on both counts and sentenced to 12.5 years imprisonment that same May. His defense team have since filed an appeal on grounds that Duggar’s rights were breached during the search that resulted in the finding of the illegal files; however, no ruling has yet been made by 8th U.S Circuit Court of Appeals.
Meanwhile, while Josh Duggar languishes behind bars much of his family have managed to move on with their lives since “19 Kids” ended – some achieving notable success such as entering politics whereas others have adopted more private lifestyles away from television screens: Jill Duggar Dillard for instance has largely avoided showbiz limelight whilst John David and his wife welcomed their first child into this world last year.
