Mark Halperin, a political analyst known for his conservative views, spoke out against Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday, predicting that her political future is not looking promising, even in her home state of California.
During an appearance on “The Megyn Kelly Show,” Halperin criticized his colleagues in the mainstream media for failing to acknowledge Harris’ poor performance as vice president, saying, “it’s so disappointing to see our colleagues, just as they did during the four years of the Biden administration, failing to cover the truth right before our eyes.”
Addressing the ongoing debate among Harris’ aides and allies about whether she should run for California governor or the Democratic presidential nomination in 2028, Halperin declared that Harris would have a better chance at winning the governorship, but warned that it would not be an easy path for her.
“I think both [President] Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have escaped a lot of the blame that falls to them, and that’s not just my view, but the view of a lot of Democrats — donors and members of Congress, etc.,” said Halperin, pointing out that Harris’ weakness lies in her inability to make tough decisions under pressure.
Halperin also expressed doubt that Harris truly wants to be governor of California, citing the current state of the job and the risk of losing the race.
In previous statements, Halperin has been vocal about Harris’ lack of success in her past presidential campaigns, stating in November that her double losses raise concerns about her viability as a future presidential candidate.
“She’s now run twice and done poorly both times, and I think it’s incumbent upon the media and Democrats — have an honest and fair discussion about whether this is the right role for her, because she’s 0 for 2 in pretty dramatic fashion,” he said.
Halperin’s comments highlight the media’s failure to hold Harris accountable for her shortcomings, despite her current role as the second highest-ranking official in the country.
