Marxist Propaganda Streamer Humiliated by Chinese Police in Tiananmen Square [Video]

In a stunning display of willful blindness—and staggering hypocrisy—self-proclaimed Marxist streamer Hasan Piker recently traveled to the People’s Republic of China in an apparent effort to whitewash one of the most oppressive regimes on Earth. Posing as a truth-teller for his millions of impressionable followers, Piker sought to portray Communist China as some utopian alternative to the United States, a nation he routinely mocks and condemns. But reality struck hard when the very regime he sought to glorify turned on him in the most public and humiliating fashion.

While attending a Mao Zedong commemoration event at Tiananmen Square—a site steeped in tragedy and state violence—Piker’s entourage committed a fatal error. One of his associates displayed a meme on a phone that depicted Piker as Chairman Mao, complete with the caption: “Closely follow the great leader Chairman Mao forward in the revolution!” The Chinese authorities, ever vigilant against any perceived mockery of their revered historical figures, did not hesitate. Security forces swiftly descended, detaining Piker and his crew, confiscating the offending device, and interrogating them on the spot.

Footage obtained by activist Drew Pavlou shows the moment Piker’s livestream abruptly cut out for ten full minutes as Chinese police pulled the entire group aside. According to witnesses, Piker groveled before the officers, insisting he harbored nothing but deep admiration for Mao—the same Mao responsible for the starvation and execution of tens of millions of his own people. Only after he professed his loyalty to the dead dictator did the regime release him, as if granting clemency to a wayward acolyte.

Yet instead of recognizing the chilling implications of his detention—the swift suppression of even the mildest satire under an authoritarian system—Piker doubled down on his delusion. “This is awesome. I don’t know why people aren’t enjoying all of this,” he laughed on stream afterward. “It’s not as bad as silly Americans imagine it is,” he added dismissively. “Not that it matters.”

Even more disgraceful, Piker was photographed waving the Chinese flag in Tiananmen Square—the very epicenter of state brutality—while openly renouncing any allegiance to the United States. “He also proclaimed he had no patriotism for America,” the report states, underscoring his contempt for the freedoms he enjoys while simultaneously praising a nation that jails citizens for speaking out.

This incident lays bare the liberal media’s ongoing campaign to sanitize totalitarianism when it aligns with their ideological preferences. While mainstream outlets often downplay China’s human rights abuses, Piker’s treatment should serve as a wake-up call—even if he refuses to heed it.
