Giridharadas admitted that crime is “real” but dismissed it as “blown out of proportion,” insisting that people feel “much more unsafe than they statistically are.” This is a classic tactic of the elitist left—lecturing Americans about their own lived experiences while gaslighting them with cherry-picked statistics. Worse, he accused former President Donald Trump of exploiting crime for “authoritarian purposes,” a laughable claim given the Biden administration’s relentless attacks on free speech, due process, and constitutional rights.
The MSNBC contributor then veered into absurdity, declaring, “When I go to D.C., I’m not afraid of losing my wallet so much as I’m afraid of losing my vote. I’m not afraid of losing my wallet so much as I’m afraid that my children’s freedom to breathe will be stolen in a world where climate change policy is nonexistent.” This hyperbolic rhetoric ignores the fact that violent crime in DC has surged under Biden’s weak-on-crime policies, with carjackings, robberies, and homides plaguing the nation’s capital. Yet, for Giridharadas and his MSNBC allies, the real threat isn’t lawlessness—it’s the imaginary specter of “authoritarianism” and climate doom.
Even more ironic was his sudden concern for the middle class, a demographic the left has abandoned in favor of open borders, green energy mandates, and reckless spending. “I’m afraid that the future of middle-class people will be stolen by the very things you were talking about cutting—the safety net, Medicaid, rural hospitals,” he claimed. But it’s the Biden administration’s inflationary policies and war on American energy that have devastated working families, not Trump’s America First agenda.

Democrats who rely on this network for news are being fed propaganda, not facts. While they hyperventilate over climate change and “losing their vote,” President Trump continues to champion policies that actually keep Americans safe—securing the border, supporting law enforcement, and restoring economic prosperity.
