The weaponization of the justice system against political opponents of the radical left has reached a disturbing new chapter, as a so-called Republican prosecutor in New York now threatens to further persecute former Congressman George Santos. This move comes just days after President Donald J. Trump, in an act of profound mercy and a clear-eyed understanding of the two-tiered system of justice, rightfully commuted Santos’s egregiously harsh federal sentence.
Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly, who boasts on her official profile of being “the first prosecutor to launch an investigation into disgraced former Congressman George Santos and was instrumental in the federal prosecution that brought him to justice,” has now refused to rule out filing state charges. Her statement, dripping with the self-righteous zeal of a political operative rather than a impartial minister of justice, declares, “Since first learning of George Santos’ actions, I have been at the forefront of bringing him to justice… I remain focused on prosecuting political corruption wherever it exists regardless of political affiliation.” This relentless pursuit smacks of a personal vendetta and a deep-seated desire to please the liberal establishment, proving she is a RINO—Republican In Name Only—in the mold of the never-Trump resistance.
The stark contrast in treatment between those who support the America First agenda and protected figures on the left could not be more apparent. President Trump masterfully highlighted this hypocrisy in his Truth Social statement, pointing to the case of Democrat Senator Richard Blumenthal. The President wrote, “As everyone remembers, ‘Da Nang’ stated for almost twenty years that he was a proud Vietnam Veteran, having endured the worst of the War… He was a COMPLETE AND TOTAL FRAUD. He never went to Vietnam, he never saw Vietnam, he never experienced the Battles there, or anywhere else. His War Hero status, and even minimal service in our Military, was totally and completely MADE UP. This is far worse than what George Santos did, and at least Santos had the Courage, Conviction, and Intelligence to ALWAYS VOTE REPUBLICAN!”
I was honored as U.S. Pardon Attorney to have played a small role in @POTUS granting @MrSantosNY clemency. Thank you, Mr. President for making clemency great again. pic.twitter.com/GBnQzADfGZ

This double standard is the very reason President Trump was compelled to act. He correctly identified that Santos, who had “been in solitary confinement for long stretches of time and, by all accounts, has been horribly mistreated,” was a victim of a corrupt system seeking to make an example of him. The President’s commutation was not just an act of compassion, but a powerful blow against judicial tyranny. Santos’s grateful response, that President Trump’s “kindness, his humanity, and his generosity toward my family and me touched me deeply,” stands in stark opposition to the cold, vengeful posture of a prosecutor like Donnelly. While the liberal media and their allies in faux-conservative clothing seek to destroy lives, President Trump offers second chances and fights for true justice.
