During an ABC panel on Sunday, political strategist and former DNC Chair Donna Brazile falsely argued that President-elect Donald Trump’s base, Make America Great Again (MAGA), was pressuring senators to support his unconventional cabinet picks. However, former RNC Chairman Reince Priebus quickly stepped in to set the record straight.
“They didn’t unleash MAGA. America unleashed MAGA,” Priebus stated, highlighting the fact that Trump won in several key states, including with voters from diverse backgrounds. “MAGA is here because it has been accepted by the American people.”
Brazile continued to push back, claiming that millions of Americans do not support MAGA and that the Senate has a “constitutional responsibility” to vet cabinet nominees. But Priebus defended Trump’s picks, stating that Republicans are fine with the smears and threats against each other during the process.
“It’s their own people. It’s their own family,” Priebus asserted.
The backlash against Trump’s cabinet picks began with the nomination of Fox’s Pete Hegseth for secretary of defense. Both media political pundits and Senate lawmakers have criticized Hegseth, with some even calling for him to withdraw his name from consideration. However, Trump has continued to stand by Hegseth and urged him to keep fighting for his nomination.
Despite the pushback, Priebus stated that he was not concerned and was prepared for the attacks from liberal media outlets. “We got to be reminded of this all the time,” he said.
It is clear that the liberal media is not happy with Trump’s unconventional picks for his second administration. The Washington Post even reported that Trump and his allies have warned GOP lawmakers to “be good” if they want to “survive.” This attempt at intimidation is a desperate move to stop Trump’s nominees and undermine his administration before it even begins.
But Trump’s supporters will not be swayed. They voted for him because they rejected the traditional picks that have led to decades of failed policies and corruption in Washington. Trump’s picks represent a new era of leadership that puts the needs of the American people first.
Trump’s cabinet picks will go through the proper vetting process, as they should. But the attempts by the liberal media to discredit and attack them will not succeed. The American people have spoken, and they have chosen Trump’s vision for the country. It’s time for the liberal media to accept that and support their president.
