ICE agents wear masks for a critical reason—to protect themselves and their families from violent left-wing radicals who have repeatedly threatened to dox, assault, and even murder them. Despite this clear and present danger, Democrats and their allies in the liberal media continue to push for ICE officers to unmask and identify themselves during arrests. This isn’t about transparency; it’s a deliberate attempt to put targets on the backs of law enforcement officers who are simply doing their jobs.
The hypocrisy is staggering. Democrats never demand that Antifa terrorists unmask when they riot in the streets, setting buildings ablaze and assaulting innocent people. They don’t call for pro-Hamas campus agitators to reveal their identities as they spew hate and vandalize property. And they certainly don’t insist on voter ID to ensure election integrity. Yet, when it comes to ICE—an agency enforcing the law under President Donald Trump’s administration—suddenly, “accountability” is their battle cry. The truth is, they don’t care about accountability. They want ICE agents exposed, vulnerable, and at the mercy of their radical base.
A group of Senate Democrats, in a blatant political stunt, recently sent a letter to acting ICE Director Todd Lyons demanding an end to masked operations. They claimed that ICE agents not wearing uniforms and concealing their faces creates “chaos and confusion.” But what’s really causing chaos is the left’s relentless attacks on law enforcement.
The Democrats’ letter, dripping with partisan venom, accused ICE of enforcing “arbitrary quotas” set by Stephen Miller, a top adviser to President Trump. But ICE isn’t operating on “quotas”—they’re enforcing the law, something the left has openly resisted at every turn. The letter states:
“We write regarding the apparent widespread violations of historical norms and traditions in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (‘ICE’) operations in Los Angeles and across the country by engaging in law enforcement activities—including arrests—without wearing identifying uniforms and while masked.”
This is pure gaslighting. ICE has every right to protect its officers from left-wing extremists who have vowed retaliation. The Democrats know exactly what they’re doing—they want ICE agents identifiable so their radical allies can hunt them down.
On The Five, Greg Gutfeld blasted the left’s double standards, pointing out that while they scream about “police brutality,” they have no problem putting ICE agents in the crosshairs. The liberal media, always eager to amplify Democratic talking points, refuses to acknowledge the very real threats ICE officers face. Instead, they frame the issue as if ICE is the villain, rather than the brave men and women upholding our immigration laws.
