A routine yard-work chore reportedly turned into a dangerous confrontation for a 23-year-old Amish woman in Sadsbury Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. According to details attributed to the Department of Homeland Security and local news reports, she was working outside on October 14 when a man allegedly approached with a large knife and black handcuffs. Instead of complying, she used the tool already in her hands to confront the alleged threat.
The report identified the man as 26-year-old Junior Jose Davila-Moran and said he was eventually arrested at his home in New Jersey. He faces multiple charges, including kidnapping.
The Alleged Confrontation
According to the account, Davila-Moran approached from behind while the woman was trimming weeds. He allegedly carried a knife and a pair of black handcuffs, then told her to put on the cuffs. He also allegedly said everything would be okay if she complied. The woman screamed instead. The report characterizes the incident as an alleged kidnapping attempt, with Davila-Moran facing multiple charges in Pennsylvania, including kidnapping.
A Weed Whacker Becomes a Deterrent
Her response was direct and apparently effective. She reportedly revved the weed whacker and moved toward him. Davila-Moran then ran away and went behind the woman’s barn, disappearing from the township, according to the report. The alleged plan met an obstacle that was both ordinary and very loud. Instead of gaining control of the situation, he abandoned the encounter as the woman came toward him with the running tool.
The Reported Trail-Camera Lead
The report said trail-camera footage linked Davila-Moran’s father’s New Jersey-plated truck to the scene. Davila-Moran was eventually arrested at his home in New Jersey. The social-media account included with the report said handcuffs were in the vehicle at the time of the arrest. DHS identified him as a Guatemalan national who entered the United States illegally in 2018 as a minor. ICE currently has a detainer lodged against him.
