Jeremy Renner is an acclaimed A-list actor in Hollywood who has established himself as a leading star of the last 15 years. He has built a reputable career, starring in blockbuster franchises like The Bourne Legacy and Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation. Additionally, he has earned Academy Award nominations for his roles in The Town and The Hurt Locker. Currently, Renner is known for playing Hawkeye alongside other Marvel heroes in the Avengers series and also executive producing and starring in The Mayor of Kingstown series on Paramount streaming.
However, on Sunday morning Renner experienced a serious accident while out plowing snow in Reno, Nevada that left him with critical but stable injuries. According to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, they received a call at 9am regarding a “traumatic injury” near Mt. Rose highway where they found Renner alone at the scene. In response to his condition, Samantha Mast (Renner’s publicist) issued a statement confirming his injuries were suffered due to weather related causes while plowing snow that day.
Renner was airlifted to a hospital in critical condition on January 1st after a Snowcat machine ran over his leg while he was plowing the road outside of his Tahoe home. According to TMZ, Renner’s injury resulted in heavy blood loss, but a neighbor who is a doctor was able to use a tourniquet to treat the injury until paramedics arrived.
The incident is being treated as an active crime scene by police, as the Snowcat is equipped with safety features that should have prevented the accident. Renner is currently in “critical but stable condition” with his family by his side and receiving good care, according to his representation.
In addition to being an actor and producer, Jeremy Renner is an avid outdoorsman who frequently spends time skiing or plowing snow as part of enjoying nature’s beauty in Reno’s winter climate. While the exact cause of his injury remains unknown, it serves as yet another reminder that safety should always be prioritized when engaging in activities like these during cold weather seasons, especially when engaging in outdoor tasks like this one.
