The Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx was rushed to a hospital in Los Angeles on Thursday morning after suffering from a “medical complication”.
“We wanted to share that my father Jamie Foxx experienced a medical complication yesterday,” Foxx’s daughter, Corinne Foxx, posted in a statement on Instagram. “Luckily due to quick action and great care he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time.”
The cause of Foxx’s medical complication is not yet known. “His condition was serious enough that Jamie’s family, some of whom were not in town, came to the hospital,” he wrote in an email, adding that the actor is awake and talking.
Jamie Foxx’s health scare occurred one week after he posted an Instagram video of himself on a large yacht. He had been working on the movie “Back in Action” in Atlanta with Glenn Close and Cameron Diaz, an upcoming action-comedy.
Corinne Foxx talked to TODAY.com recently about her own health struggles. She experienced intense pain, chronic fatigue, nausea, and other symptoms which led to her diagnosis of stage 4 endometriosis. Through the doctor visits, tests and procedures she went through, she realized how critical it is to seek help and find answers.
“You just have to keep showing up for yourself. I learned that no one’s going to fight for my health more than me,” she said. “That really empowered me in the long run despite being discouraged.”
His fans and friends have been sending him messages of support and prayers on social media, wishing him a speedy recovery.
Foxx is one of the most versatile and talented actors in Hollywood, having won an Academy Award for his portrayal of Ray Charles in the biopic Ray, and starring in films such as Django Unchained, Collateral, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and Baby Driver. He is also a Grammy-nominated singer and comedian.
