It’s no secret that June Shannon, or Mama June as she is famously known, has had her fair share of ups and downs in the limelight. From the heights of reality TV fame to the depths of addiction and legal problems, her life has been a rollercoaster ride. However, the latest news about her daughter, Anna Cardwell, is the most heartbreaking yet. In a recent update, Mama June revealed that Cardwell is battling terminal cancer, and doctors have given her a grim prognosis.
Cardwell, who is the oldest of Mama June’s four daughters, was diagnosed with cancer some time ago. However, it was only recently that Mama June opened up about the severity of the situation. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, she revealed that doctors have told Cardwell that her cancer is terminal and that she will eventually succumb to the disease.
“She’s stage 4. She’s not gonna go into remission. We’ve all accepted that, so I just tell people one day at a time ’cause you never know,” Mama June said.
Cardwell’s cancer has already taken a toll on her body. She has lost all her hair, including her eyebrows, and has no hair on her arms or anywhere else. Despite this, she is still able to carry out daily activities like going grocery shopping and driving herself around.
Mama June’s youngest daughters, Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson and Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird, are also struggling to come to terms with the news. Thompson said, “It is crazy to think that she will not be here probably in five years, but I’m hoping that she can pull through and fight 10, 20 years.”
Despite the bleak prognosis, Cardwell is said to be handling the news remarkably well. She is still able to take care of her children and carry out daily tasks without issue.
At this point, Cardwell has finished chemotherapy and is considering her options for treatment going forward. She may opt for clinical trials or immune therapy, but has not yet made a decision.
“We don’t know what to expect because the cancer is very aggressive and it grew from nothing to something huge on the left side of her body really fast,” Mama June said.
Despite the bleak prognosis, Mama June and her family are holding out hope for Cardwell’s recovery. While they acknowledge the severity of the situation, they are optimistic that there may be a cure for cancer in the future.
For now, they are taking things one day at a time and focusing on the present. Cardwell is still able to live her life to the fullest, and her family is by her side every step of the way.
