On Wednesday night, Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic made history once again by becoming the first NBA player to ever record 30 points, 20 rebounds and 10 assists in an NBA Finals game.
Jokic’s performance was nothing short of extraordinary as he finished with 32 points, 21 rebounds and 10 assists in the Nuggets’ 109-94 win over the Miami Heat in Game 3 of the NBA Finals. His stats were not only impressive but also historic as he became the first player to ever achieve such a feat.
The two-time MVP put on a show for all those watching as he dominated both ends of the court. He had a remarkable shooting night from beyond the arc, connecting on four three-pointers and going 12-for-21 from the field overall. On defense, he was able to shut down Miami’s offense with his size and strength while also grabbing key rebounds throughout the game.
Not to be outdone by his teammate, Jamal Murray also put up an impressive performance with 30 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists. This marked his second consecutive triple double in this series and his third overall during these playoffs. He was able to make key shots when needed while also distributing the ball effectively to his teammates throughout the game.
This historic performance from both Jokic and Murray is something that will be remembered for years to come. They have set history once again by becoming only the second pair of teammates to ever record triple doubles in an NBA Finals game, something that will be remembered for years to come.
Always humble, Jokic had a tepid reaction to the historic line after the game.
“I don’t care,” he said. “If we [lost], no one would talk about it […] It’s just a number.”
Jokic’s first half was also one for the record books. It was his ninth playoff half with at least 10 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists in a half. According to ESPN Stats & Information, only two other players have three such halves in the last 25 years: LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo.
