Deputies Responded After a Confusing 911 Call
Authorities say the deadly incident began with an unusual 911 call early Thursday morning. Ellis County Sheriff’s deputies were sent at about 4:13 a.m. to a home in the 900 block of Big Sky Drive in Waxahachie after a caller reported an unknown emergency. The caller hung up, dispatch reconnected, and a female said all units were needed before the line went dead again. When deputies arrived at the mobile home, they reportedly heard a woman yelling for more units and saying she had a gun in her hand.
Two Sons Died After the Shooting
Inside the residence, deputies found 21-year-old Christopher Scott Pitre suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His 15-year-old brother was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition, but he later died from his injuries. Authorities have not publicly released the younger victim’s identity. The search warrant affidavit said the brothers were found in the master bedroom and back bedroom. Lemmon was also inside the home with injuries described by authorities as non-life-threatening.
Affidavit Describes What Deputies Found
According to the search warrant affidavit, deputies saw that Lemmon had blood on her hands. Once inside, they found her in the living room, “covered in blood with a gun next to her,” along with what appeared to be self-inflicted cuts on her wrists. The affidavit says Lemmon told deputies, “I shot both of my kids,” and directed them to the bedrooms. Investigators said evidence recovered during the case established probable cause to identify her as the person responsible for shooting both sons. She was treated at a hospital before being taken to the Wayne McCollum Detention Center and booked on two counts of capital murder. According to WFAA, her bond was set at $2.5 million.
No Motive Has Been Publicly Disclosed
Authorities have not explained what led to the shooting or announced a motive. Ellis County Sheriff Brad Norman offered condolences to the victims’ father, family members, and loved ones. “My deepest sympathies go out to the victims’ father, family members, and loved ones involved in this tragic incident,” Norman said, adding that the family would remain in the department’s prayers. Lemmon faces serious criminal allegations, but the charges remain accusations that must be addressed through the court process.
