A Quiet Morning Turned Deadly
A terrible crime in Round Rock, Texas, has left a family grieving and a community asking hard questions. Wimsatt was described as an accomplished civil engineer who had published several notable works. Minutes later, police say he was attacked near the Chandler Creek Trail. The reported footage shows a man approaching from behind with a knife and stabbing Wimsatt multiple times in the neck while holding onto him. Wimsatt tried to fight back, but the attack continued, and he was left on the ground. Suspect Found Hours Later
Investigators later identified the suspect as 26-year-old Benedict Ogbodiegwu of Round Rock. The source details say he was found several hours after the killing at a home on Matagorda Drive in Round Rock. Before that, he had reportedly been seen on footage from a McDonald’s in Round Rock after the murder, leaving the parking lot as a passenger in a red SUV. Police say a search warrant at the Round Rock home led them to a knife with a 5.5-inch blade, a wooden handle, and a red substance on it, found in a trash can outside the home. Investigators also recovered clothing that they say matched what was seen in the video. Ogbodiegwu was taken into custody and is now facing a murder charge.
