President Trump’s Wednesday travel plans hit a short delay at Joint Base Andrews after an emergency slide deployed on the new Air Force One, the aircraft gifted to the United States by Qatar. Reporters also asked President Trump about the Midterm Convention taking place that night. Trump said, “We’re gonna explain what we’ve done for the country! We’ve done things never done in the 1st or 2nd term, frankly, of a president.” According to the report, Trump was headed to Dallas, Texas, to deliver remarks at the Republican Midterm Convention. So the big tarmac moment turned out to be a temporary delay tied to checking an emergency slide, followed by Trump doing what he often does best: walking straight into the press gaggle and turning a tense-looking moment into a campaign message.
